Hello fellow new player! I joined around the time of the expansion release, and it’s been a fantastic journey so far. I’ve reached level 65, dived into the world of artifacts, and delved into the dark matter grind, among other things.
Lately, I’ve been trying my hand at PvP, but to be honest, it hasn’t been very enjoyable. If I manage to secure just one kill in an Outpost Rush (OPR), I’m over the moon, but most of the time, I find myself being swiftly defeated.
I’d like to hear from the PvP veterans out there:
1, How long did it take for you to start having more competitive and enjoyable PvP experiences?
2, What are some valuable insights or tips you wish you had known when you were just starting out with PvP?
I’ve heard that improving your PvP skills mechanically involves a lot of dueling and New World gold improve the items. OPR often turns into a massive battle, and unless you’re already a skilled player capable of consistently taking on multiple opponents, it can be a challenging and less rewarding experience. 3v3 matches can be fun for skilled players, but newcomers might find themselves getting eliminated early, leading to frustration from teammates. Moreover, you might encounter groups with dedicated healers, making it tough for new players to secure victories.
Dueling, on the other hand, provides a controlled environment where you know your opponent’s loadout. It’s a valuable opportunity to engage in one-on-one battles, and if you lose, you can take the time to analyze why you were defeated and adjust your playstyle or build accordingly. While it’s beneficial to explore various aspects of PvP, dueling is an excellent place to start.
Regarding your choice of a build, I typically recommend new players to begin with tanking in heavy armor. Heavy armor is more forgiving as it allows you to survive longer, giving you more combat experience. Additionally, heavy users are often targeted last since they take longer to defeat and deal less damage. However, your choice should align with your preferred playstyle. If you’re set on being a nimble bow user, go for it, but be prepared for a steeper learning curve.
Arguably more crucial than your mechanical skills and chosen build is your game sense. Understanding when to engage the enemy, keeping track of your team’s positioning, recognizing when to retreat, and assessing the vulnerability of your opponents are all vital aspects. These skills develop over time and practice. After each defeat, take a moment to reflect on what you could have done differently. Were you out of position? Did you engage in a fight against insurmountable odds with no escape plan? Did you exhaust your abilities too quickly or deplete your stamina, rendering yourself vulnerable? Learning from these experiences and striving to improve in subsequent battles will make you a more skilled player. Instead of venting frustrations by blaming weapons or classes, focus on self-improvement, as it’s the most effective way to become a better PvP enthusiast.
